Filming 1

Yesterday, we have filmed our music video in Richmond park, surrounded by stick dens and trees which was so perfect and appropriate to use as the location to film. We met at 11am and finished at 5pm. The process of make up was quick. I was in charge of using a black coloured powder to draw a design on each actors face.

Lewis had set up his camera, using a red gel filter so when we add a black and white filter later when we are editing, the sky and the clouds will look very dark so it will have a dull finish.

After the actors were ready to begin, we decided to film using our storyboard to help us remember which shot is meant to last for how many seconds and what the actors have to do.

We have filmed the same scene about 5 times so we can compare which filming was the best. This also includes directing and trying to make the scene better.
For example, in the first scene where the leader spreads his arms which indicates the cults to find the missing cult, there were some turning to the right, some turning towards the left. When we watched the playback, I noticed that this doesn't really make sense and looks unorganised. So I suggested that every cult turn in the same direction so it flows.
Also, when we had filmed this scene the second time, we noticed that the camera frame did not fit all of the cults, so we spreader them out so every cult is in show during the scene.
Then we had filmed 3 more times so we can pick out the best scene filmed.

I didn't do much of the filming as I was in charge of the directing.

Lewis had filmed the first half and used various equipments to avoid error. Such as a tripod to reduce the risk of shake and keeping the camera still.
Ben had filmed the other half and used some of his technique where he has filmed the same scene from a different angle and shot sizes so we have more than one to choose from which will fit in likely in our Music Video. This is a good organisation as if the Music Video did not go in the order of our storyboard, we can have spare which might fit in and balance it out.

For me, I found it easier to direct as the whole group was concentrated and knew what they had to do.
