George Gerbner - TV
Cultivation theory was found by George Gerber who claimed that the effects are gradual overtime unlike the hypodermic needle theory and that it will need a lot of television viewing to have an effect.
There are 2 effects
1.) a person who loves an orange watches on TV claiming that apples are better, later on, the person will start to like apple better than orange.
2.) a person who loves an orange watches on TV claiming that oranges are the best, later, the person will love oranges even more. This reinforces the person.
An example of these effects in a tv programmes is - EastEnders and HollyOaks
The 2 TV soap opera programmes included a story where a new born baby has been swapped and stolen. This will reinforce pregnant women to worry that their baby may be swapped or stolen after birth.
