Field In England

Field in England is a British small budgeted film we have studies in our AS course when we were making a film for the coursework.

The film was gory and I found it very odd, and quite hard to understand the storyline and the characters needs. However, this gave us think more about the film and question what is was about.

Although for this year's coursework, we are making a music video so there will be words so even though the music video doesn't tell the story, the lyrics will. We thought to take the advantage and as out genre is alternative, it will be a perfect rhyme with the film and the music video.

Now we have some inspirations, we had to think about how we will be able to film something like if
Field in England and fit it into the music video.

As I was in charge of editing last year, I have some experiences with the use of Final Cut Pro programme. Final Cut Pro will be used to edit our music video. There are filters which you could add later to make the footage more dramatic or exciting. Hence, Lewis came up with the idea of using red filter on his camera while recording as when you add the black and white filter, it will contrast out the black and white well and make the sky appear darker.

The screenshots below are the key 3 elements which show how our music video has taken in some ideas from the film:

Firstly the make up and the costume. The character below looks very rough and dirty. I looked closely on how make up has made the character look old, scrappy and rough. The us of brown product painted on his face gives an impression that he doesn't take care of him self or even care, also, he is wearing a cape which usually indicates a 'heroic' character. In our music video, I painted each individual with a clear pattern to indicate that they are in a group.

Secondly, the location is set in a similar setting. We have both filmed in the woods to show they have nothing surrounding them to help. Meaning they are stuck there forever.

Thirdly, some of the shot sizes are similar as well,
